Commands Commonly used:
Come by -
The dog is to move clockwise around the stock.
Away to me-
The dog is to move counter clockwise around the stock.
Down or Lie down -
The dog is to stop or lie down.
Walk up or Steady on -
The dog is to approach the stock.
Steady or Easy -
The dog is to take its time.
Get back -
The dog is to tight and should move back away from the stock.

Terms Used in Sheep Dog Trials
Outrun -
The dog is sent to the left or the right. It should go wide and beyond the
sheep before approaching.
Cross Over -
The dog crosses between the sheep and the handler on the outrun.
This results in an automatic loss of points.
Lift -
The dog's approach to sheep at top of outrun. This should be quiet and
steady with the dog in full control.
Fetch -
Bringing of the sheep to the handler. It should be on straight or near
straight line.
